As the end of the financial year approaches, we’re asking for your support to help keep Zero Waste Victoria’s advocacy, education and community engagement work going strong.

Over the past year, with the support of our members, volunteers and community, we’ve continued to be an independent voice for waste reduction in Victoria.  

Together, we’ve:

• Advocated for stronger packaging reform and greater accountability from major retailers and brands.
• Represented community concerns in national discussions on soft plastics and packaging, ensuring community voices were heard in decisions that affect us all.
• Promoted waste avoidance and reuse as solutions to our growing waste problem.
• Connected thousands of Victorians through the Zero Waste festival, education and practical sustainability initiatives.

Now we’re looking ahead. At a time when sustainability funding is becoming increasingly uncertain, your donation will help us continue delivering meaningful impact where it matters most.

Reduce packaging waste and hold industry accountable

Australians are still burdened with unnecessary packaging and soft plastics.

Zero Waste Victoria will continue advocating for stronger packaging reform, greater transparency from supermarkets and brands, and practical solutions that reduce waste at the source rather than relying solely on recycling.

We’ll keep pushing for systems that prioritise reuse, waste avoidance and genuine producer responsibility.

Keep the Zero Waste Festival alive

The Zero Waste Festival has become a unique opportunity for people to learn, connect and take action.

From clothing swaps and repair activities to upcycling workshops, children’s activities and sustainability education, the festival inspires practical change and brings communities together.

This year, the festival was unsuccessful in securing City of Melbourne funding, and Sustainability Victoria, a previous event partner, is being wound up in June 2026.

Despite these challenges, we’re committed to keeping the festival alive because community education and engagement have never been more important.

Free the Fruit

Fresh fruit and vegetables don’t need unnecessary plastic packaging.

Through our Free the Fruit campaign, we’ll continue advocating for less packaging, including fruit stickers, encouraging retailers to rethink wasteful practices, and promoting practical solutions that make low-waste choices easier for shoppers.

• $25 helps amplify community voices through advocacy campaigns. 
• $50 helps us engage community members through education and outreach.
• $100 supports advocacy for stronger packaging and waste prevention policies.
• $250 helps deliver community workshops, resources and education materials.
• $500 helps keep the Zero Waste Festival accessible and impactful.
• $1,000+ helps strengthen independent advocacy and long-term waste reduction initiatives.

Donations of $2 or more made before 30 June are tax-deductible in the current financial year.
