Cip leads the AMCS’s efforts to reduce marine plastic pollution, advocating for national packaging reforms, First Nations ranger funding, and a strong legally binding Global Plastics Treaty. She represents the AMCS on the frontlines of both domestic campaigns and international negotiations with a strong focus on upstream prevention – tackling plastic pollution before it’s produced. This includes advocating to reduce supermarket packaging and releasing the annual “Unwrapped” report—in partnership with the Boomerang Alliance—which grades major Australian supermarkets on their unnecessary use of single-use plastics and transparency.
She takes part in negotiations for the United Nations Global Plastics Treaty to set global targets that cap plastic production. Cip also leads Ocean Clean Up campaigns, calling for federal funding for First Nations rangers who intercept ocean pollution and ghost nets along Australia’s northern coast.
