Chris Buntine

Chris is a long time sustainability consultant seeking to live a lifestyle that reflects his sustainability values. To that end he has embarked on a regenerative home renovation in Hampton www.biophilicbungalow.com.au which involves high aspiration sustainability outcomes, including the reduction of waste to landfill and sourcing of healthy materials. Rather than demolish the existing 100-year old California Bungalow, the home will undergo a renovation and extension while making every effort to reuse or recycle materials to avoid sending waste to landfill.

Chris is also Regional Director in Melbourne for Atelier Ten, a global sustainability consultancy committed to shaping a sustainable world. Chris strives to bring regenerative design leadership to every project, seeking opportunities to realise potential, create value and contribution to people and the wider community of life. He has nearly 30 years’ experience as a sustainability consultant and industry advocate, working in Australia and the United States.

Come and hear Chris share his journey so far in using the Living Building challenge framework. All demolition materials are weighed and every effort is being made to reuse or repurpose the materials. To date the demolition has achieved a 93% diversion from landfill, with many inspiring stories in the process of embracing the circular economy.
