Diana Gibson

Diana’s passion is making change happen for the benefit of people and planet. She has been involved in prolonging the life of products and material, and zero waste for more than 2 decades. She was involved in early ‘ Say No to Plastic Bags’ campaigns in Victoria, and the long standing Detox Your Home Program ,she led product stewardship and takeback trials in Victoria for ewaste, paint, batteries and fluoros in conjunction with brands, retailers and the waste industry, following these through to get legislation and schemes in place such as the ANZ Recycling Platform for ewaste and Paintback. And at the other end of the lifecycle she worked in partnership with the Design Institute of Australia and industrial designers with the aim of mainstreaming design for sustainability principles into design practice. Today, alongside her day job of raising funds for medical research, she has kept this passion alive in a very practical way , establishing a repair Cafe initiative in partnership with Glen Eira City Council, Caulfield South Community House and 25 amazingly skilled volunteer repairers.
